HOW DOES IT WORK?

For example, if you make a gift to an endowment with Inspiritus:

Gift amount $5,000 $10,000 $20,000
ND tax credit $2,000 $4,000 $8,000
Federal tax deduction (28% bracket) $720 $1,440 $2,880

Actual net cost of gift = $2,280 = $4,560 = $9,120

Any unused portion of the tax credit can be carried forward for up to three taxable years. There are provisions for various types of planned gifts including uni-trusts, annuities, paid up life insurance policies, appreciated assets and life estate agreements. The maximum tax credit is $10,000. For couples filing joint returns, the maximum is a $20,000 tax credit. *IRS regulations require the original gift to be reduced by the amount of the state tax credit received, for purposes of calculating the federal income tax charitable deduction.
This is an excellent opportunity to make a charitable gift that creates a legacy with the power to change lives. Now is a very good time to take advantage of this opportunity.

We help nonprofits fund specific projects and programs through our Inspiritus Endowment fund and numerous other granting opportunities. But we are most excited about helping area organizations establish an endowment fund. An endowment fund provides permanent charitable cash-flow and over time, these interest earnings can become an important part of their annual budget. Endowment funds are an indicator that an organization’s leadership is planning for the future. Here is a list of Agency Endowment Funds held by the Foundation.
