November 2021 – Rugby, N.D. – Donors can double their gifts to Heart of America Medical Center’s Patient Safety is Vital campaign now through Dec. 31.
St. Joseph’s Community Health Foundation, Minot, will match all Twice Blessed contributions made on behalf of HAMC up to $10,000. Any contributions to HAMC beyond the required match will be returned to HAMC as well.
“This is the fifth year St. Joseph’s Community Health Foundation has invited HAMC to participate in this annual fundraising campaign,” said Darcie Rose, director of the Good Samaritan Health Services Foundation, which oversees fundraising efforts for HAMC.
“What is our campaign about? The current patient monitoring systems in the Surgical Department at Heart of America Medical Center are aging out and are in need of replacement,” Rose said.
A statement published by the foundation said, “Monitoring patients in the perioperative setting is vital. Reliable patient monitors can alert our surgical staff of early changes in a patient’s condition, allowing our surgical team to intervene before any harm comes to the patient. Currently our surgical department has to substitute patient monitors from other areas within the department.”
“Our Surgical Department has seen an increase in patient volumes of over 60 percent in the past year. We not only treat patients of HAMC and our three Johnson Clinic locations, but we also provide surgical services for Dakota Eye Clinic. Recent changes to the workflow in our surgical department have made us one of the most efficient hospital-based sites for eye surgeries,” Rose noted.
The foundation’s statement added, “Your Twice Blessed gift is critical to the success of this fundraising effort. It will cost about $50,510 to purchase three new surgery monitors for the surgical department. In order to qualify for a Twice Blessed match, all contributions must pass through St. Joseph’s Community Health Foundation. Contributions may be made online, or donation forms can be downloaded at: sjchfnd.com/organizations/medical-rugby/. Checks should be mailed to St. Joseph’s Community Health Foundation, 308 2nd Ave. SW, Minot, N.D., 58701.”
